Dear Students, For this week’s sketch participation on visual explanations, I’m asking you to sketch two flowcharts and also a scene to explain your expert observation of a scene. Again, because there is so much material, we’re going to meet as a full class starting at 5:25pm.
- One flowchart is to document a decision (e.g a purchase you made/didn’t make. an invitation or deliberate choice)
- A second flowchart to observe a process and give pointers (your expert advice) about it (e.g. how to execute the best free throw, steps for making your favorite snack).
- Then I want you to sketch a scene you participated in, with the goal of using that sketch to point out the special details you noticed enough to sketch. For example, what cues tell you that a car/bike is awesome or what are the essential elements to the perfect special meal? This movement is called urban sketching. but your participation sketch does not have to be too detailed. Just make sure to call out interesting things YOU see that are worthy of telling the class about.
