Q. How can I fit multiple images on one page?
A. Combine your images and text using Google slides. This is a quick “hack” for getting all your various images and graphics arranged into one image. It’s also possible to do this with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, but I will leave that to you.
1.Create your individual pieces in whatever tool you want to use. When you are dealing with quantitative information (numbers) Google spreadsheets or Excel are recommended because they are easy to work with. Tables in Powerpoint may work, although it might be difficult to change something and recalculate. If you just have images, make them high enough resolution so you can stretch them if you need to. It’s easier to digitally color your image as discussed in Class 17 and Presentation 8-1.
2.Create a Google Slides document — choose the blank layout. Just copy and paste to insert the various pieces as images. Resize and arrange them on one slide. You can even crop out material you don’t want in the image. You can then download the slide as a .jpg or .png and put it in your blog post.
Q. How do I make images that are not cramped?
A. It is most efficient to make thumbnail sketches before you start laying out the final visual. If you skip making thumbnails, you risk missing thinking about the overall Gestalt of the piece. Arrange the sketches in miniature using just outlines and think about how the elements are arranged. Preliminary thumbnails will guide you toward more eye-pleasing balance, color composition, and gestalt compositions. It is easier to prototype lots of thumbnails quickly than to alter a near-finish image.
