Q. What’s my grade? Or “How do you know how you’re doing in the class?”
PostEms let you know where my grades for you stand. To access them, go to the Bridges class website for COMM 165 and then select Post-Em from the left-hand side. Please email me before/after class if there is an issue with the PostEms. If you’re getting NP (No Passes), come talk to me. Let’s iron out problems before class continues.
Blog assignments for the first assignment have been graded. If you met the specifications requirement, you should have seen a “comment” from me your blog. Comment notifications can be enabled so that each time someone posts to your blog you receive an email. To do this: go to your site dashboard go to Settings–> Discussion. look for “Comments” on the left-hand bar. Go to the field “Email me whenever” and click “a comment held for moderation.”
Name your blog title so that I can easily see the blog belongs to you. Mistakes are less likely when your blog is named something identifiable.,e.g. “FirstName SecondName’s Comm165 Blog.” I may mix up your grades (accidentally) if the site title is generic.
Take good pictures. Showcase your work in the best light by using a scanner or a scanner app. Dark shadows, blurriness, and blue tint can be avoided. Or, take the photo in bright even light so that there are no shadows. Make sure to orient the work so that it is aligned with the horizontal and vertical axis of your camera. We have neurons that detect perfect horizontal and verticals.
Check out the other student works list on the right-hand links. Feel free to comment and give encouragement/feedback to each other. If you really like something or have a question, let them know– and they will do the same for you. You might ask people about their materials, intentions, or process and learn how to improve your work.
Quizzes are ongoing. A reminder that every Friday at 5pm, a newly assigned quiz based on readings is automatically open on Bridges. The quiz automatically closes on Sunday night at 11:55 pm. The 10 quizzes are open book, allow 3 retries, and are based on the readings in the Schedule.
Class Participation is taken from the photo albums you hand in after each class. These papers are archived in the Galleries. Please take a look at your work to review your progress, and if there is any discrepancy between the PostEm and your attendance, please let me know the link of the image in Galleries. Also, it helps if you always date and sign your work in a legible manner.
Nice work learning about your own visual abilities and improving your skills today! Being aware of your skills enables you to pay attention to the parts you can improve. You can always return to the workshop and practice by yourself or with friends. Try pop-outs in a party setting!
